B-1B makes one of three fly-bys at our 2005 Airshow

Many volunteers made this event operate with a smooth professionalism. An excellent array of vintage aircraft were on hand for the enthusiastic crowd. Many special events were

This years show was spectacular. And although it was advertised more than ever and supported by excellent publicity compared to past shows, it failed to generate the revenues needed to make a profit. Some think this was due to the escalating cost of gasoline that forced the public to cut out some of their entertainment expenses rather than not being able to buy gasoline. It appears to be the only answer to this lack of attendance.

MEETING TIMES
Membership meetings will be held on the 2nd Saturday at 2:00 pm at the hangar. Open Board meetings are to follow the membership meetings or will be scheduled as circumstances require them for actions.

 PRESIDENT'S CORNER... from Jim Ridgway

Another air show has come and gone. We believe it was a good one again. It appears like we will be slightly in the red this year. If there is to be one next year we need to sit down and seriously look at our expenses and see what we can do to lessen them. For all the hard work that goes into our show each year we seem to make less and less money. Of course, everything is going up in price, fuel, lodging, and etc. The people who have been doing the planning and legwork for the past several events are getting burned out and would like a rest.
The air show consumes a lot of time and concentration to make it work. We need new blood in the trenches to keep going like we have been. We may scale back on what we do to bring an air show together for next year. We would like to thank Brenda Halk for putting together the hog roast Saturday evening during the air show. Those in attendance enjoyed the food and socializing with the participates, in the air show. Wish to thank Diane McDaniel's effort in the memorial services for the air show this year. She had to coordinate several groups and participates for it. I think it went well and expressed what we are striving to do.
To honor our veterans and educate people to there efforts in keeping us free. We have the Gahanna flea market coming up the 18th of September. We always need help for it and this year we are unable to set up the night before as we have done in the past, so we will really need it this year. Contact us at the hangar (740-653-4778) or call Kathy (614-899-9690) if you can help.
Hangar dance is the 24th of September this year. Come and enjoy the atmosphere and music, we usually have a good time.
Our last Texas hold-em poker tournament this year will be the first weekend in November. If anyone has time in the evenings to help us get out of the open T hangar let us know. They are going to be torn down and we have to move equipment out of it, probably in the next couple of weeks.
