 PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Air show was a success for those who haven't seen our web site or was not there. It could not have been a success if it was not for the members and volunteers who helped put it on. Wish to especially thank Barb Seymour and the people who ran the PX. She was given an empty tent with tables and virtually had to organize and run it by themselves. The people who ran the gate did a terrific job also as before. I believe everyone that came saw a good show and enjoyed all of the flying activities and static displays. If anyone has a comment good, bad or indifferent please let us know. We are always striving to make things better or easier.

The last air show we took the PX to in Mt Comfort, Indiana was the best one we did this year. Of course when you have the Blue Angels putting on a show it draws a large crowd. Wish to thank all the help we had for that one that also makes it a success. We had eight people helping out and at times we needed everyone. We are looking to purchase a medium size box truck that almost anyone can drive, which should give us more room to carry things and possibly more items to sell plus more drivers and people to go next year.

We have a new addition to the museum. Richard Horton donated a replica of the Wright flyer to us. It now hangs from the ceiling of the hangar. It took him two years to build and is an outstanding addition to our group. Everyone that sees it is impressed with it, I know I was. Bob DeLay, who we have to thank for arranging and pursuing the acquisition of it, dedicated it at the hangar dance Saturday evening.

Speaking of the hangar dance, it was a great success also. We filled the hangar and everyone enjoyed the music and dancing that went on. The hors d'oeuvres were well received also. The evening was pleasantly cool, which helped keep the unwanted guest from flying (mosquitoes). Wish to thank the members who came and helped with the hangar dance, again if we don't have you if puts a greater burden on the rest of us. Was glad to see Don Bell and wife at the dance after his recovery from by pass surgery. It will be great to have his sense of humor and expertise back. Wish to thank Dick Debevoise's wife for the wonderful home made cookies she made for the dance.

To update our dealings with Mr. Tallichet, they're not real good. His tax attorneys didn't like our choice on the appraiser we had for the 6X truck. Wayne is trying to find someone they might like. If you know someone who has a collection of army vehicles and would know the value of those things, let us know. As far as the tank is concerned we have not heard anything from them, I e-mailed the person that is handling it but have not heard anything from him.

I need to put special thanks in the newsletter for three ladies whose tireless efforts have contributed a great deal to the air show, hangar dance and many other things for our group. They are Malinda Rutherford, Diane McDaniel, and Kathy Ridgway.
