An all-volunteer, non-profit organization to the restoration,
display and operation of former military aircraft.

Airshow
scheduled for
August 19th  & 20th

NEW EVENT MAY 20

The Squadron is hosting a new event to coincide with the Fairfield County Airport’s OPEN HOUSE. This should prove to be a very exciting event for all who attend.

It will include The Young Eagles program hosted by the EAA for kids ages 8 through 18 years old. This is a chance for kids to be introduced to flying. All of the youngsters will have a chance to go flying.

Second will be the Pilots Association meet for a pilots breakfast with Hot Dogs in the afternoon. HAS will have a bake sale and hangar tour for all to see our aircraft and facilities. Tentatively we are hoping to host the Car Show this year at the same time.

This event replaces our Fly and Flea Market. What a great program this will be. Volunteers are needed and they will be enjoying the event as well as helping out at the same time.

MEETING TIMES
Membership meetings will be held on the 3rd Saturday at 2:00 pm at the hangar. Open Board meetings are to follow the membership meetings or will be scheduled as circumstances require them for actions.

COLD WAR TACTICS REVEALED
F-89 Scorpion was one of the many aircraft types to deploy tactical Atomic weapons to thwart a Soviet Bomber attack.

In the early days of the Cold war it was determined to use small air launched rockets with Nuclear tips to attack Soviet Bombers as they approached our boarders. These tactical weapons were to explode within proximity of the incoming bombers and destroy them. Imagine if you can the airborne radiation of such warfare. Then we can appreciate the fact that these were never used. The Century fighters were also equipped for this tactic.

HAS NEEDS YOUR HELP
We are in need to improve our finances through revisal of the PX sales.

This past year we were unable to generate this lucrative operation of the PX at area air shows due to no volunteers. So we are issuing a urgent request for volunteers. If you can help even with one show, please call the hangar immediately. Online contact us at www.historicalaircraftsquadron.org

The squadron needs your help to balance our loss of revenues.

Please help !!!

Well it's a new year and were progressing. we are working on the upstairs to make it into a meeting room and library.

We are also trying to get the pilots association and 443 involved with HAS.

As you know we have two new board members, Bruce Cook and Tom Carroll. They both are a couple of go getters. We had our 1st Texas hold'em poker festival it was the best one yet.

Airshow season is approaching. We have already started on this years show so come and help with the things that needs to done.

Our next Texas hold’em poker festival is Feb. 24th & 25th. So if you can help out send us an e-mail or call the hangar. With all your help we can make 2006 a banner year.

 THIS MONTH IN HISTORY

April 10, 1945
About 50 German jet aircraft shot down 10 American bombers in the Berlin area. Just imagine what may have happened if Hitler hadn’t insisted the jets be used as bomber back in 1943. When he was finally over ruled the jet fighter became a lethal weapon. The Allies had almost no defense against them attacking our bombers.
April 11, 1918
The first United States patrol over the enemy lines by an observation squadron in WWI was made by 1 Corps Observation Squadron. They were equipped with biplace Spads.
April 13, 1925
Henry Ford started an airplane freight line between Detroit and Chicago - the first such commercial flights on a regular schedule.
