 PRESIDENT'S CORNER... from Jim Ridgway

Winter seems to be relentless this year. Wants to hang on forever. I know I am ready for warm weather like everyone else. For those who may have not heard Royce Woolever passed away in January. He will certainly be missed. Him and his brother were two of the hardest working individuals we have ever seen. The stories of their experiences in Europe during the war will long be remembered. Our deepest condolences to his family and to Ralph, who we hope, will have more tales of their time in the war for many years to come.

Our Texas Hold-Em Poker tournament was a success. We have had one other group use our hangar for the same thing and others interested in having an event there. We handle the concessions for these other tournaments. We have one tentatively scheduled for May 20th & 21st. Which from Jim Ridgway brings up that we can always use more help at these events. Wish to thank those who have helped in the past. If you would be interested in helping let us know.

March 21st at 7:00 PM the FAA will have a safety seminar in our hangar with the topic being Sport Pilot Final Rule.

May is the first event we usually take the PX to, and that is at the Morain Air Park near Dayton for the fly in. June 11th is the open house and the fly-n-flea market.

The jeep ambulance project was coming along pretty good until we found the fuel pump was bad. You don't go to your local auto parts store and get a fuel pump for a military vehicle. We found a place that carries parts for our jeep and have ordered an overhaul kit. Hopefully by the time you read this it will be running. It does run if you keep pouring gas into the carburetor. The C-45 is making some progress in getting the sheet metal back together. It won't be the prettiest airplane, but it will look like one. Part o the reason for that was the condition it was in.

The Wednesday crew is working on a new stand for the R-1820 radial engine we have. Wish to thank the many people who do come in and help with the many different projects or things we have going on when they can. We need more. One person doesn't make an organization function and grow. It takes a group effort. We have new people getting involved and are appreciative of this.

We try to make everyone feel welcome and try to listen to what people suggest. Hope to see you soon if you haven't been there in a while and those who frequent more regularly, we are always glad to see you.

Jim Ridgway
President
