As in the past, turkey, ham and beverages will be
provided. We ask that you bring a covered dish or
dessert to share. Please RSVP, if possible, to the
president of your group by December 11.
We are doing things a little differently this year
and making this a "giving" party instead of a
"receiving" party. Since so many people have either
lost their jobs or were forced out of their homes
due to the economy, we thought it would be fitting
to spread a little bit of holiday spirit to some of
these displaced people. Blankets are in short supply
along with hygiene items such as toothbrushes &
toothpaste, combs, shampoo, soap and deodorant. We
also need warm socks, underwear, hats, gloves and
scarves. There are needs for men, women and
children. Since this is the season of giving, we are
asking that each person or family bring an item or
items from the wish list to the Christmas party, if
possible. We will deliver donated items to a
homeless shelter or to an organization who will
distribute the items to the individuals in need. I
am checking with several agencies to find where the
greatest needs are.
We also ask that you bring canned goods for the
shrinking shelves of the food pantry. The needs are
here and any item that you can contribute will be
very much appreciated by someone less fortunate than
us.
Thank
you in advance and Happy Holidays.
Sue Hoover and Cathy Gerken.
